Officer Randy Charles shows EES students how to appropriately fold the US Flag

Elkhorn Elementary School- Frankfort, KY – February 2025 – Today, our School Resource Officer (SRO), Deputy Sheriff Randy Charles, dedicated time to teach two of our fifth-grade students the importance of flag etiquette. With an impressive 21 years of military service in both the United States Marines and the Kentucky National Guard, Deputy Charles brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our school community.

During the lesson, Deputy Charles demonstrated the proper procedures for taking down, folding, and replacing a torn flag. This hands-on experience provided the students with invaluable insights into the respectful handling and care of the American flag.

Real-life lessons like these are irreplaceable, and we are deeply grateful to Deputy Charles for his dedication to educating our students. His efforts not only instill a sense of patriotism but also teach important life skills that our students will carry with them.

Thank you, Deputy Charles, for your service and for taking the time to share your expertise with our students! 🇺🇸
